For whatever reason, some people don't, or
can't, own a car. The big reason is the expense. According to AAA, in 2023 it
costs $12,182 a year, $1,015 a month, to own and operate a new car. Between
2019 and 2023, the price of new cars jumped 30% and used cars 40.3%.
